She said: but my work has nothing to do with boredom, it is about the exact opposite. Boredom is something you want to escape from, in search of stimulation. You’ll think of anything to not have to be bored.

He said: but you make images that are still and quiet and nothing happens in them.

She said My work is about being completely absorbed in looking at something for a very, very long time. About embracing the non-activity and being absorbed in a perceptual event.

He said: But boredom can much broader, it can include all that and much more. And he found quotes from many, very smart people and sent them to me with the conclusion that my work perfectly fits.

I am not convinced of the argument, but intrigued by the debate, so I thought: only one way to find out.
